Nutrients in EU Farm-to-Fork policy webinar

The EU Green Deal ‘Farm-to-Fork’ policy poses ambitious objectives for agriculture-food system sustainability, in particular for nutrients, including reducing nutrient losses by 50% and fertiliser use by 20% by 2030, improving improve nutrient stewardship and addressing diet. ESPP’s annual stakeholder event will look at how industry and stakeholders can put these objectives into action, in particular with the EU Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan, EU agriculture, food, environment policies and Horizon Europe.

9h00 – 10h30 CET: Nutrients in EU Green Deal policies: from objectives to actions

• ESPP, nutrients in EU Green Deal policies: raw materials, agriculture, health, circular economy, R&D

• European Commission (tbc), nutrient objectives in Farm-to Fork and the Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan, implementation in the CAP (FaST)

  • Scientist’s view of policy needs

  • Fertilisers Europe, Tiffanie Stefani, the mineral fertiliser industry’s response to the challenge of nutrient sustainability

  • Organic fertiliser industry, how organic fertilisers and biostimulants contribute to agronomic nutrient stewardship

  • Phosphate chemicals industry, added-value and sustainability of phosphate food additives

  • Water industry, nutrients in EU water policy, ambition and implementation

  • Food industry, is dietary choice the key driver for agricultural nutrient use?

Invited panellists: diet and nutrient policy scientists, farmers organisation, environmental NGO

Each speaker = 5 minutes presentation then 5 minutes questions and online discussion/chat. Questions will be via ‘chat’ for all registrants, with open dialogue between all participants in the chat. Oral discussion, based on these questions, will be with the speakers plus a small selection of invited experts / stakeholders from ESPP’s international network (‘panellists’, see below)

 

11h30 – 12h30 CET: preparation of input to the Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan

Discussion to finalise draft document (see here http://www.phosphorusplatform.eu/regulatory) to be submitted to the European Commission
